GETTING THERE:

Cruises depart from many ports located around the world. If you are flying or traveling a great distance to get to your cruise, it is recommended you arrive at least the day before your departure. This will allow a buffer in case of flight or traffic delays. Cruise ships rarely wait for passengers past the scheduled departure time.

LANGUAGE:

Cruises departing from the U.S. will employ crew members from all around the world. However, most of these employees speak English.

MONEY/CURRENCY (CREDIT CARDS, DEBIT CARDS, TIPPING, ATMS):

Rarely will cash be accepted onboard your cruise ship. Therefore, a credit/debit card will be needed to charge to your onboard account. If you prefer not to use a credit/debit card, then you may deposit cash with the onboard customer service. Any remaining cash you have in your account at the end of the cruise will be refunded to you.

ELECTRICITY:

Cruise ships typically use type A and type B plugs operating on 120V supply voltage and 60Hz. However, it may vary from ship to ship. Be sure to check with your travel advisor. Outlets are very limited in your stateroom.

5 FAST FACTS

Floating Cities:

Modern cruise ships are marvels of engineering, often resembling floating cities with amenities such as theaters, restaurants, pools, and even rock-climbing walls. These vessels can host thousands of passengers and crew members, creating a self-contained world at sea.

Global Exploration:

Ocean cruising provides a unique opportunity to explore diverse destinations without the hassle of constant packing and unpacking. Cruises traverse oceans and seas, offering passengers the chance to visit multiple countries and continents in a single journey.

Culinary Delights:

Cruise ships are renowned for their culinary offerings, featuring a variety of restaurants and dining options. Passengers can savor a range of cuisines, from gourmet fine dining to casual buffets, often curated by acclaimed chefs.

Entertainment Extravaganza:

Entertainment on cruise ships goes beyond breathtaking ocean views. Passengers can enjoy Broadway-style shows, live music, comedy acts, and even on-deck movie nights. There's always something to suit every taste and age group.

Cruise Trends:

The industry continually evolves, introducing new trends such as themed cruises, wellness-focused journeys, and sustainable cruising initiatives. From adventure cruises to luxury voyages, there's a cruise experience tailored to nearly every interest and preference.

5 THINGS TO PACK

1. Comfortable shoes. Whether onboard the ship or on land for an excursion, you will do a lot of walking.

2. Formal attire. Take advantage of the scheduled formal evenings aboard the ship.

3. Backpack. For shore excursions, a backpack is a must to carry your towel, sunscreen and other necessities for the day or to bring back souvenirs.

4. Refillable water bottle. Most cruise ships have designated locations where you can fill a water bottle with ice and water. Perfect for going ashore.

5. Rain jacket or poncho. Shore excursions don’t stop just because of some rain. So be prepared just in case.
