Did someone say summer? The sun is out, days are longer, and there is a sense of
anticipation in the air. One of the best things about summer is the chance to take a vacation. Here are some of the best locations in the United States to inspire you.
If you want adventure or to unplug from the rest of the world, consider white water rafting through the Grand Canyon. While most visitors to the Grand Canyon only spend 15 minutes looking over the rim, you can spend three, four or even seven days rafting through the canyon. Guides provide all of the gear, prepare the meals, and even share facts and stories as you float undisturbed, marveling at the canyon. Be sure to check the night sky as you fall asleep. The Milky Way will be brightly visible in all its glory. You won’t have cell service while on the river, but don’t worry. After a few days of being untethered to the rest of the world, this may turn out to be your favorite part of the trip.
If you are traveling with family and looking for a location that has something for
everyone, Disney World is perfect! There is always a festival or celebration in full
swing with new snacks and attractions being released all the time. There is so much to do in Disney World that there’s no way you can do it all in one vacation. For that reason, I recommend making a list of your “must-do” items. Do those things first, and the rest will be the cherry on top. The temperature in Florida rises quickly in the summer, so I recommend that you choose a resort with a great pool for those afternoon breaks and to get away from the heat.
If you need a break from the rising temperatures, an Alaskan cruise is a great way to beat the heat. It is also going to be a wonderful option if you are looking for a multigenerational trip. No matter their age, everyone will love to see glaciers calve or whales breach. Cruise ships intentionally plan activities for various agility levels and areas of interest to suit all their cruisers. From traditional cruising to luxury or even expedition style, you will have a wide range of cruise lines from which to choose.
If you’re a self-proclaimed foodie and enjoy wine, I recommend Napa Valley. Here, the pleasures of eating and drinking are celebrated daily. Napa Valley is home to over 150 dining establishments. You will find everything from a mouth-watering “hole in the wall” to Michelin Star restaurants. The hardest part will be deciding which of the 357 wineries and 90 urban tasting rooms to visit. Thankfully, there isn’t a poor choice in the bunch, so you can’t go wrong.
If you just want to relax, Hot Springs, Arkansas, is a delightful location. Take
advantage of its namesake by visiting one of the hot springs bathhouses. These
thermal waters have called to travelers for hundreds of years. The mineral rich
waters which run out of the hot springs are said to have healing powers which leave their visitors feeling rejuvenated. Furthermore, you can enjoy walking/hiking trails through Hot Springs National Park or play a round of golf.
I hope you found some inspiration to take a fantastic trip this summer. Whatever you have in mind, I can help you plan it. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
