Tips for Eating Healthy While Traveling

Whether you travel for business or for fun, one of the hardest things to maintain can be the food we eat while away from home. Fortunately, many hotels, resorts, and cruise lines have improved their offerings to make eating well while traveling more manageable.

In addition to caring for dietary needs such as allergies or gluten intolerance, travelers can find great options. For example, many resorts and cruise lines are adding spa cafes and smoothie bars for enjoyment. And buffets have more fresh fruit and vegetable options in addition to good protein choices like hard-boiled eggs.

Remember these few tips:

  • Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water.

  • Start your day with a good breakfast to help maintain metabolism and blood sugar.

  • Carry snacks with you like almonds, crackers, or a piece of fruit so you can keep your hunger from getting out of control.

  • Try a local restaurant that uses fresh ingredients from the area.

  • Indulge ... some. Enjoy the dessert or extra treat, just not after every meal.
